I am an Associate Professor in the Division of Gastroenterology and Hepatology at the University of Pennsylvania, where I also direct the Program in Neurogastroenterology and Motility. Outside of clinic, I am a writer with interests in the history, literature, and culture of medicine. I went to college at Harvard University and to medical school at the University of Michigan before completing my clinical training at the University of Virginia and the Johns Hopkins Hospital.
